Broken Hill Office

Nova's Broken Hill office opened in 1995 and continues to provide specialised supportive employment assistance for young people with disabilities in the Broken Hill region.

Funded by Department of Employment and Workplace Relations, and under the direction of Nova's Management Committee / Board. The Broken Hill office operates to assist people with varied disabilities find and maintain employment in our local area.

A new Transition to Work program is also delivered from our office. The program is designed for school leavers with a disability and provides intensive training with the focus on personal development, individual skills and preparation for entry in to the workforce.

The team is committed to cementing strong foundations and delivering a quality service to our community. We have developed good working relationships with local High Schools, Skills Centre and other service providers this helps us meet the best outcomes for the jobseekers. Successful Job Club programs conducted with the High Schools, targets young people who are preparing to leave school in career identification, work preparation and the transition from school into the workforce.

The relationship between all stakeholders is paramount to the success of Nova within our community. The importance of strong leadership with a vision for the future and with committed staff members, the team will ensure we continue to set the benchmark in service delivery and supported employment in Broken Hill.

Broken Hill is famous as the birthplace of Australia's mega mining company BHP (Broken Hill Pty Ltd). BHP was once the principle employer for the town. However, in recent years, the slow decline in the Mining industry has seen a renewed focus on tourism. Today, Broken Hill is a good place to live and a great place for a holiday.

Currently we operate with Manager, Jess Burton and Employment Consultant's Brenda Ralph, Jay Radford and Georgie Donohoe. We have a challenge in Broken Hill due to the high unemployment in the area however we are working well with our major employers, Schools and other agencies to ensure success in placement and retention for our job seekers.
