| 5/11/2008 4:52:27 PM Wednesday, November 05, 2008 It's about 5pm and it's been a testing day with all sorts of hassles. I'm getting older and balder and there's another bill in the mail box.
And then: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-_-P4t2jR1g&NR=1
Suddenly, I am the luckiest bloke on this planet and the privilege of working with NOVA's job seekers couldn't be bought and yes, I shed a tear but I am emotionally liable and so that's O.K.
While I am a newcomer to the concept of 'social networking' I can certainly see its potential for promoting the ability of NOVA's job seekers - check out our Youtube site: http://au.youtube.com/user/NOVAEmployment

Previous PostsNDIS It was my pleasure to have lunch with Senator Marise Payne and the Hon Member for Mackellar, Bronwyn Bishop on Monday.
The lunch was good (thanks to The White Swan, Penrith) and it was interesting to hear our elected representatives views on matters disability....
Autism Forun My thanks and appreciation to Carol Schall for a remarkable evening and a truly informative and entertaining presentation on the ability and opportunities presented by job seekers who are of the spectrum of autistic disorders - we had guests from 3 states and from across New South Wales - our feedback was that everybody felt inspired and very positive about just what can be achieved with trained workers, supportive families and most of all, by job seekers keen to succeed....
Some great resume tips Wow!
It’s time for me to brush up on my resume!
Having just posted about the importance of making sure your application stands out from the crowds of competitors I came across a great article on how to improve a resume: http://www....
100 Applications and no result? Listening to talk back radio today I heard numerous phone-in complainants saying, ‘there’s plenty of work if only people would get off their backsides’....
Open Employment First Option Check this out: http://www.disabilityscoop.com/2012/02/21/sheltered-workshops-benefit/15035/
The facts are simple; entering a sheltered workshop, no matter what fancy title they are given is generally a one-way ticket to nowhere....
Autism Seminar There's a link on our home page to an upcoming seminar on autism and the transition from School to Work (right hand side of page, second box down)....
Lets Get Working!! Do you have a disability?
Do you have the skills to keep a job if only you could get an interview?
Outside of where a NOVA outlet might be able to help you one-on-one?
If you would like a hand to find your own job you can get advice and assistance from: www....
More Important Things The single most important thing my organisation does is find people work and then provide the level of help necessary to keep a new worker employed.
What comes next is often a matter of competing priorities and right now it would be easy to be distracted from the main game by thinking about the upcoming purchasing program for disability employment services....
Good News
Why turn up to work??
Let me count the ways.....
I first went to Nova on the 30th of September (2011) and I was excited to come to Nova as my last Employment agency treated me terrible and made me feel worthless....
Don't miss out!!
Unfortunately I will be away for the following event:
Aloha special friends, on behalf of Special Olympics Australia and Ambassador, Paula Duncan we would like to invite you to join her on an exclusive cruise on board The Bella Vista on Sydney Harbour
Date: Friday 9th March 2012
Time: 7:00PM to 11:00PM
Location: Embark King St Wharf 8 (outside Cargo Bar) at 7....
Flooding The severe weather conditions and associated inundation seen over parts of South East Queensland and Northern NSW have made their way to our outlying far west offices....
Unreserved Apology We have received several complaints about our sponsorship of Today FM's Kyle & Jackie show.
I have answered each with a 'not us' and stated that we share the offence taken by many in the community of people with disability following the ignorant and insensitive comments of the shows host....
Second Post:
Now let’s get stuck into the purchasing process!
As a person with a disability so far I have had no say – and neither has (virtually) anybody else amongst Australia’s community of people with disability (Here I should acknowledge the work of my colleagues at Breakthru who clearly informed and encouraged their clients to make comment on the process – they were almost universally opposed)....
Purchasing Recommendations I am making 2 posts today – a copy of the recommendations from the Senate inquiry into the recent Senate inquiry into the purchasing of disability employment services and a comment on the process so far....
Shameless! O.K. I know its shameless self-promotion and our Jodie Owen has added webcasting to the offer of her 'candoability' home page.
Do a quick cut and paste and if you haven't met Jodie yet I am sure you will enjoy her first presentation and job seeking tips: www....
Let's get working
We are one week into our 2012 advertising and promotion campaign and I need to apologise.
Hearing and seeing stuff about us can be frustrating when you don’t have a job....
Blimey! Check this out:

Thank you Carly, an inspirational start to my day!...
Actually - just bad.
More than 2000 people are registered with us and they have a couple of things in common; they have a disability and they want to work
Accepting personal responsibility for their own care through employment and earning wages is a theme I hear repeatedly when I speak with our job seekers....
And we went live! Apart from being the start of the Chinese year of the dragon today, the 23rd of January 2012 marks the official start of our 2012 employment campaign and sees the restart of our extensive television, radio and outdoor advertising program....
The value of work?
We have (or rather had) a job seeker registered with us who desperately wanted to work – for him the realisation that in Australian society work and personal worth are closely linked is very much a reality....
