You've got questions - We've got answers:

Does it cost anything to come to NOVA?

NO! NOVA is a free service. We are funded by the Government to assist people find employment.

What sort of jobs will we find for you?
Whatever work you choose. NOVA's staff have found jobs for thousands of job seekers in just about every type of work you can think of. The most important thing for us is to find you the job you want and to assist you to become the best you can be in that job.

A successful jobseeker How long will it take before we find you a job?
It depends on you! We take as long as you need. It can also depend on where you live and what you want to do and the skills you already have. On average, it takes about 6 months from the time you register with us, but the shortest time was only 2 hours.

At NOVA, we make sure we get to know you. We will talk with you about your job choices, history, hobbies, interests, abilities, support needs, cultural needs or anything else you want to tell us about you.

Then we will help and discuss with you things like: creating a great resume, what to say at interviews, how to make friends on-the-job, what employer's expect, what you can expect and lots more. After this, we will work together to get you the job you want.

How much will you get paid?
NOVA staff will look for a quality employment outcome that pays award wages and gives you a valued role within your work place.

That means your job will:
  • Pay you the same money as everyone else who does the same job
  • Have the same conditions as every other worker
  • Meet health and safety standards
  • Help you feel part of the team
How much help will you get when you start work?
That depends on how much you need. If you need on-site help then the NOVA Employment Specialist that worked with you to get your job will be with you at the workplace to help you learn your job.

If you just want them to check with you regularly to see how you are going - that's fine too. Some people may not need much support whilst others may need us to spend quite a lot of time on-site. NOVA will match support to your needs*

What if you lose the job?
If you lose your job (and we hope you don't) it might be because the job didn't suit you. If so, we'll try to get you another one straight away.

Sometimes, you might lose your job because the business closes, or moves, or is sold - if so, we'll try to get you another job straight away.

You also could lose your job because working isn't how you thought it would be - if so, we'll talk with you about what else you might do.

*Workers with an intellectual disability will receive at least 100 hours on-site support (adjusted for part time work)
