One of the most important principles and values underpinning NOVA Employment is the right of every person to work. Work provides dignity and meaning to our lives and enables our participation as fully contributing members of our respective communities.
Unemployment is a blight that erodes self-esteem, destroys confidence and marginalises those forced to endure it.
We have repeatedly demonstrated the value of people who have a disability as employees on a simple premise: If the people you hire from NOVA make you a quid, you'll keep them employed (this is not complicated math).
It's true that for some of these workers it is both necessary and fair to use what is known as a 'supported wage' - this sytem uses independent assessors to measure the productivity of a person who is unable to achieve commercially workable rates and enables award adjustment.
(There's some background that you need to understand before I go off - we get paid for results - for finding jobs and, after placement, bonuses at 4, 13 and 26 weeks of continuous work).
We are also able to offer employers some financial incentives for taking on a person with a disability. Our experience is that such payment is negatively linked to long term retention of work and we use them very sparingly - some offices simply never use wage subsidies.
If a person is worth employing they are worth paying and if they are as productive as a non-disabled person they are entitled to the same money. NOVA's Employment Consultant's are skiled in supporting new workers to achieve commercially viable productivity rates in the shortest time possible.
One thing we always tell our workers is this: never, ever sell on a subsidy - the subsidy will end (and so may the job) but even if it doesn't, it's suggesting that a disability should equate to a discount, otherwise the deal's not a good deal.
That's why you won't find much talk of 'subsidy' on this website - our applicants are worth their pay - from Day 1. However, that's not the case for all disability employment network providers. Theere is a site that opens with detailed instruction on how to get the most subsidy and carries the message, 'our qualified staff will ensure you can receive the maximum subsidy you are entitled to'.
Here's the deal: you aren't 'entitled' to a subsidy - you are entitled to receive work of greater value than the wages you pay from your employees. Come to NOVA and we'll make sure you do while we also look after teh people who trust us to find them work.
Oh yes, guess how long those subsidies last?
Bang on - 26 weeks - funny that.

Whats wrong with Employment Services? There's rumours of a shake-up in the Job Active program - word is, the program isn't making a real difference and employers don't like it!

Today marks the first day of a new Disability Employment Service (DES) contract.
There are new players and new rules....

The administrative burden of a new Disability Employment Service contract (starts July 1st) and the mountains of paperwork required for an NDIS dollar (approximately 10X that of the former TTW program) has seen us add 3 extra staff to the admin team and we are still receiving a large volume of enquiries that are causing us some time delay in getting back to folk....
