I was born in Brixton in England. England is, or at least used to be, a cold country and every year it would snow and sometimes that snow would be very heavy, but it would always snow.
On snowy days my father would take me to the bottom of Brixton Hill to watch the cars crash (well, there was no park to play in!) and the we'd come home where the news would announce, 'authorities were caught by surprise..." This always made me wonder since surely winter, with its accompanying snow, was reasonably predictable - it happened every year.
Australia is a hot country - sometimes very, very, dangerously hot and you will have seen or read about the tragedies that this can cause. What to do? You might think that there is little you can do - that's not the case, everybody can and should make the best preparation in case of fire danger (www.bushfire.nsw.gov.au). In Brixton you might have chosen not to drive an unsuitable vehicle in snow.
However, every year cars would bump and bang into each other as their drivers, unprepared and inexperienced, strove to overcome unsuitable conditions. Last night I listened as a fire service officer said that the difference between disaster and little to no damage for many Australian residents was having their homes prepared for bushfires - that was what kept the homes (and presumably their occupants) safe.
Business is no different. Succesful business people realise that to profit, to grow and thrive (or maybe today to just survive) you need to be prepared - you need to have the right tools to hand and follow a prudent course.
It's for those reasons that right now I think more than ever is just the right time to hire a person with disability. You'll see from my somewhat flawed math below that there a lot of jobs around - really, just check your local paper and remember that 75% of jobs are not advertised (that's a fact) - but right now business owners are going to be cautious and more than ever make sure they are hiring someone who: 1. wants, to work, 2. will try thebest, 3. appreciates the opportunity and 4. will stick around.
Now imagine if you could get just that and have a professional and experienced employment agency provide long term post placement support - help you with any questions you may have about employment in general or hiring a person with disability in particular.
This is a great deal!
No one likes to be the victim of a nasty surprise. Whether its a bush fire, snow, or a poor hiring decision (and a bad employee can do just as much damage as bush fire!). This post is a recommendation to reduce your risk and call your local NOVA office next time you need a quality employee - give a person with disability a go, focus on their ability and build your business with us.

Don't know about you but I have felt pretty bruised from all the horrible stuff brought upon us by this damn virus - seeing so many folk losing their jobs is particularly awful and the uncertainty generated for everyone, particularly for workers who have a disability is dreadful to see....

NOVA Employment has operated for 30 years. Comparing all results from previous years, February 2020 has been our most successful to date - Following on from January that's 2 in a row and every indication March will also be a record breaker....
NOVA Employment posted another 'best ever' result for the first month of 2020.
Despite the most dreadful natural disasters and with many businesses closed for the holidays, the NOVA team delivered more new workers than in any previous January results, beating past 5 years average by 25% and previous (2017) 'best ever' numbers by 5%....

DES providers don't need nor should they have been given the authority to suspend welfare benefits (see above)....
I have spoken previously on, to quote former President Bush, 'the soft bigotry of low expectations' - if you are a member of a marginalised group the public don't expect much and are surprised when anything much is achieved!
