The show refers to service providers 'parking' people with disability because they require greater financial input, skill and effort to be successfully found work - Australia has followed the same course.
I have repeatedly warned against this practice, writing to the last 4 Ministers, explaining the problem and seeking help in using performance measurement designed to prevent people with more significant barriers being placed on a back burner.
The UK’s funding body’s response, “if anyone has evidence of…..” is almost word for word the repeated phrase used by the Minister and by their Department (DEEWR).
Let’s think about that, why might a provider not wish to provide evidence that they are misusing their position to gain a financial advantage….? - Umm, let me think….!

For the prophet of St Marys it is scant consolation to look back through my blogs and say, ‘told you so’ and these are exactly the practices that have been so recently rewarded in Australia.
Finally ask yourself this – if I am wrong and what we are doing/have been doing for the past 7 years is so good, how come we are 23/27 in employing people with disability and 27/27 in the financial standing of people with disability (OECD report 2010).
It’s been going belly up for years in the UK – how come we slavishly have to follow?
People with disability are entitled to better.

This is frightening for me and I have no idea how I am going to cope. I spoke with my old service and my case worker has left and the staff thaht remain seem very upset by this process too.
Choice looked after me. I considered them my friends. My illness often makes me unwell and they knew how to help. In the last 2 weeks I have had no contact with anyone.
Please keep up your protests.

Today marks the first day of a new Disability Employment Service (DES) contract.
There are new players and new rules....
'It's nice to be busy' and 'busy is better than idle' and all of my mum's other sayings about work being good for you, and all of them said; we're drowning!
The administrative burden of a new Disability Employment Service contract (starts July 1st) and the mountains of paperwork required for an NDIS dollar (approximately 10X that of the former TTW program) has seen us add 3 extra staff to the admin team and we are still receiving a large volume of enquiries that are causing us some time delay in getting back to folk....
